Safety for laser weapons
All of our “laser guns” are gun dummies with class 3R laser diodes built into their muzzles. When dealing with these lasers there are safety precautions that must be observed.
From the safety sheet of the general accident insurance institute:
Basics of laser safety M080 – 9/2008
“Class 3R lasers can be categorized in between the (practically safe) Class 2 and the “dangerous” type class 3B lasers considering the potential risk of eye injuries. Although the limits for class 3R lasers can be exceeded by factor 5, there is only a low risk of injury do to accidental short term exposure to the laser beam since the MZB-values have safety distances included.
(The term “R” can be understood as a symbol for “reduced” risk and reduced safety precautions.) Studies have shown that the actual hazard of eye-damage is only relevant after an extended constant exposure of a couple of seconds of irradiation. Still safety measures for class 3R-laser products must be followed at all times. It is important that all users of class 3R lasers are informed about the potential risks.”
Safety precautions:
- Never look directly into the laser beam. Laser radiation can cause eye- or skin injuries.
- Never aim the laser at humans or animals.
- Always keep the direction of the laser facing away from you and others.
- Never aim the laser at mirrors or other reflective material as the uncontrollably reflected beam might hit by standing humans or animals.
- This laser is not a toy and should never be used or stored in an area where children are present.
- In case of any injuries or damage to property that are caused by improper use or failure of this manual we assume no responsibility! In such cases any warranty claims are voided.
Handling:
By pulling the trigger on the fake weapons the laser diode is enabled for 35 milliseconds. After this time the laser turns off automatically and can only be reactivated by pulling the trigger again.
General:
Do not use any solvent-based cleaning agents. Make sure that no moisture gets inside the unit.
